A midnight post
I’m folding cranes in the dark—there’s about thirty of them not yet strung together, not all of them have messages. But they’re made. They exist, which is the important thing.
The project has raised about $300 during its initial month (already donated to Direct Relief International). Something I’m very proud of. But it hasn’t earned anything more because I’m human. I tire. If I tweeted every day a post and a picture of where we’re at, we can hit our $5000 goal. But as it stands, I can fold cranes, and I can write on them. But I can’t always promote. I’m just one person with one voice.
So here’s where you come in.
If you follow me on Twitter and you see any mention of cranes from me or the hashtag #cranesforjapan, please retweet it. Please talk about it. My virtual voice can get hoarse sometimes, so for this project to be louder and make a difference, everyone needs to shout with me.
I’ll post as much as I can, but as it stands, the two most important things that I must do for this project is 1) fold cranes, and 2) make sure the money gets to Japan. So please know that this project is still going on. I’m moving the deadline for completion to be one year from the earthquake. So that’s March 11, 2012.
I’ll be trying to set up dedicated crane folding hours on Twitter so people can watch the process, and some other things so this project stays chugging along. It’s always the middle of the race where people are really tested on their stamina and I’ve been reminded so much from people about this project that I want them all to know it’s still moving forward.
So watch out for me on Twitter. Know that I need your help. And that the formats of the posts here might change so that the project keeps going forward, but it’s moving.
Just a few weeks ago, someone donated $100 to the project.
It’s definitely moving forward.
